Instructor application procedures

The Association is responsible for processing candidate applications and registering the candidates.  (Instructor Candidate Application form)

 

Competent Crew and Day Skipper

To process an application the Candidate Instructor needs to submit the following documentation:

  • Complete and meet the Prerequisites.
  • Complete and provide an Instructor Candidate Application form.
  • Provide a copy of a VHF license.
  • Provide a resume of sailing experience.
  • Provide a copy of a Standard or Marine First Aid certificate including CPR.
  • Be able to produce, on request, the latest Competent Crew, Day Skipper, and Coastal Navigation workbooks with chart work completed.

Forward to:
Board of Directors, Instructor Coordinator, P.O. Box 141, Gabriola, BC V0R 1X0

  • A copy of the application form
  • The documents listed above
  • Proof of payment of the application fee (processing, registration, clinic materials, etc) of $150.00

On successful processing of the application, the Association will provide a letter of completion to the Candidate Instructor.  The Candidate can then apply for a Revision and Evaluation Clinic with an Association School.

Clinic dates, locations and organizing bodies will be announced on the Association website.

 

Each candidate’s file, with a declaration that all prerequisites have been met, will be passed to the Instructor Evaluator (IE) appointed by the Association, prior to the Revision and Evaluation Clinic start date. The candidates’ personal files will remain the sole property of the Association.

 

Coastal Skipper Advanced

To process an application the Candidate Instructor needs to submit the following documentation:

  • Complete and meet the Prerequisites.
  • Complete and provide an Instructor Candidate Application form
  • Provide a copy of a VHF license.

  • Provide a copy of a Standard or Marine First Aid certificate including CPR.
  • Be able to produce, on request, the latest Competent Crew, Day Skipper, Coastal Navigation and Coastal Skipper Advanced workbooks with chart work completed
